The current importance of the humanization of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is based on the benefits of understanding the course of the disease from a new and more humanized perspective, since in ASD, there are several complications that can hinder the confrontation and adaptation to this disease. The present work describes the impact of ASD diagnosis on the family, as well as reviewing the scope of the symptoms and analyzing the impregnation in the life of both the people who suffer it and their families as their needs. According to the results, it has been possible to see the problem at the time of evaluating the disease that exists today, which delays the diagnosis and, therefore, also the intervention with the ASD. Likewise, the care that families receive from health professionals does not promotes a functional adaptation of the disease. There are several variables that, considering them, would contribute to the improvement of disease prognosis and quality of life of families, as well as the inclusion of people with ASD. The path towards a humanizing understanding of this disorder requires the coordinated action of different professionals and a multidisciplinary treatment in which family participation will be a transcendental part to achieve an effective intervention.
