La memoria es clave para unir el pasado y el futuro desde el presente. En el cristianismo ésta tiene un papel fundamental para remitirse al origen fundante de la persona de Jesucristo y actualizar su presencia en cada situación histórica. Con fuertes raíces veterotestamentarias, el memorial está en el centro de la tradición cristiana como mandato de Jesús a sus discípulos. Este solo es posible realizarlo bajo la acción del Espíritu Santo. El crecimiento de la tradición que actualiza la revelación de Dios ha de realizarse bajo unos determinados criterios, para así distinguir entre una renovación auténtica y su posible corrupción.
Memory is key to connecting the past and the future with the present day. Ir plays a major role in Christianity as a way to refer back to the very origin of the person of Jesus Christ and adapt his presence to fit with the customs of the time. This is what we call tradition. At the heart of the Christian tradition is a memoir, deeply rooted in the Old Testament, in the form of the comands given by Jesus to the disciples, which can only be carried out through the actions of the Paraclete. The growth of the Tradition, renewing the revelación of God for mankind, has to materialise according to specific criteria so as to distinguish between an authentic renewal and its posible misdirection.
