Funcionamiento familiar e inteligencia emocional en familias numerosas y no numerosas

Este estudio persiguió analizar las relaciones entre el funcionamiento familiar (cohesión y adaptabilidad) y la inteligencia emocional (IE) en las familias no numerosas y numerosas (3 hijos o más). Los cuestionarios “FACES-II” y “TMMS-24” fueron contestados por uno de los progenitores de cada tipo de familia. No se encontraron diferencias en funcionamiento familiar entre ambos tipos de familia. Si bien, se encontraron relaciones distintas entre cohesión y adaptabilidad para cada tipo de familia, siendo de mayor magnitud y coeficiente de determinación esta relación en las familias no numerosas. Las familias no numerosas presentan relación entre cohesión e IE (regulación), no existiendo relación entre adaptabilidad e IE. Las familias numerosas también presentan relación entre cohesión e IE (comprensión y regulación), y entre adaptabilidad e IE (regulación). No se encontraron diferencias en IE en función del sexo del progenitor. Finalmente, se discute la relevancia de los resultados y sus implicaciones para futuras investigaciones.

The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between family functioning (cohesion and adaptability) and emotional intelligence (EI) in large families and non-large families. The questionnaires “FACES-II” and “TMMS-24” were answered by one of the parents of each family type. No better results were found in family functioning for any type of family. Although different relationships were found between cohesion and adaptability for each type of family, with a larger magnitude and coefficient of determination in non-large families. Better results were found in non-large families between cohesion and EI (regulation), but there is no relationship between adaptability and EI. Better results were found in large families between cohesion and EI (understanding and regulation) and between adaptability and EI (regulation). No better results were found in EI according to the sex of the parent. Finally, the relevance of the results and their implications for future research are discussed.
