Si el verbo "errare" significa al mismo tiempo "equivocarse" y "vagar sin un fin preciso", la expresión "errare humanum" encierra una verdad profunda: para todos los seres humanos, la vida es un camino imprevisible que comienza y termina en lo Desconocido, un viaje en el que el error es la fuente inevitable de todo descubrimiento y crecimiento. Para Primo Levi, un ser humano marcado por la experiencia de Mal absoluto, la vida es una tregua en el corazón de un viaje de terribles y divertidos errores cuyo destino final es la Muerte.
