El excepcionalismo americano frente a las teorías schmittianas

Partiendo del análisis de las obras de Tocqueville, Lipset, Schmitt y Freund, se pretende dar con este trabajo una respuesta a la hipótesis “¿Es posible aplicar las teorías schmittianas en el ámbito norteamericano?” El trabajo consta de una introducción donde se establece el presupuesto sobre el que se va a sustentar el resto del argumento. En el núcleo se analiza, en primer lugar, el Credo Norteamericano y el socialismo en Estados Unidos como parte de su excepcionalismo, en contraposición a la teoría schmittiana antiliberal basada en las tesis de los filósofos de la Contrarrevolución. En segundo lugar, se analiza la moral protestante y se enfrenta este criterio con la teología política de Schmitt. Por último se analiza la guerra moralista norteamericana como ejemplo de su teología política y se contrapone al concepto de enemigo de Carl Schmitt. Finalmente, se da respuesta a la hipótesis planteada concluyendo que la propia ideología norteamericana veta cualquier opción de aplicar en los Estados Unidos las tesis schmittianas.

Based on the analysis of works from authors such as Tocqueville, Lipset, Schmitt and Freund, this dissertation attempts to give a response to the following hypothesis: is it possible to apply the schmittian theories to the North American context? This dissertation will begin with an introduction stating the basis upon which the rest of the argument will be formed. Regarding the nucleus, first the North American Creed will be analysed, as well as the US Socialism as part of their exceptionalism, in contraposition to the antiliberal schmittian theory based on the counterrevolutionary philosopher’s theories. Secondly, moral Protestantism will be analysed, with its confrontation with Schmitt’s political theology. Thirdly, the North American Moralist War will be studied, as an example of its political theology, compared to Carl Schmitt’s concept of enemy. Finally, the hypothesis will be answered concluding that the North American’s own ideology vetoes any option of applying the schmittian theories in the United States.
