Art and museology in the formation and consolidation of national identity: Case of Israel

En el presente Trabajo de Fin de Grado se realizará un estudio teórico-práctico sobre el impacto que el arte y la museología tienen en la construcción, consolidación y legitimación de la identidad nacional de un país. Para ello se analizará la relación existente entre identidad nacional y arte, así como el rol de los museos en su proyección social. Además, del estudio teórico se concretará en el caso de Israel aprovechando la estancia de la autora en este país. De esta forma, en base a la correlación previamente estudiada, una breve contextualización de la situación socio-política de Israel y la visita personal de los principales museos del país, se elaborarán unas conclusiones. Éstas tratarán de demostrar empíricamente si realmente el arte y la museología israelí han contribuido a la construcción de la identidad nacional de este país.

In this Final Proyect, a theoretical-practical study is carried out on the impact that art and museology have on the construction, consolidation and legitimization of the national identity of a country. For this aim, the relationship between national identity and art will be analyzed, as well as the role of museums in their social projection. In addition, the theoretical study will be specified in the case study of Israel, using the author's stay in this country. In this way, based on the previously studied correlation between art and identity, a brief contextualization of the socio-political situation of Israel and the personal experience from the author to the country's main museums, some conclusions will be drawn. Thus, this Final Proyect will try to demonstrate empirically if Israeli art and museology have really contributed to the construction of the national identity of this country.
