Ludopatía

Con el paso de los años van surgiendo nuevas enfermedades y nuevas formas de comportamiento que afectan a la salud física y psicológica de las personas. Es el caso de la ludopatía, o también llamada trastorno por juego, que viene ya recogido en el DSM-5 como una adicción sin sustancias. Esta reciente adicción afecta cada vez más en la sociedad, debido al fácil acceso a los juegos de apuestas y a la normalización por parte de la sociedad de la conducta de juego, conducta que lleva presente en la historia del ser humano desde mucho tiempo atrás. La ludopatía sigue un patrón de comportamiento muy similar al patrón de comportamiento de aquellas personas con trastorno de consumo de sustancias. Por este motivo, resulta también interesante conocer más sobre el consumo de alcohol en aquellas personas que usan el juego de forma patológica. En los últimos estudios parece quedar demostrado la existencia de una relación entre consumo de alcohol y juego patológico, aunque no todas las tipologías de juegos muestran la misma comorbilidad. El objetivo de este trabajo es tratar de ahondar en las características del trastorno por juego, llegar a comprender esta nueva adicción, al mismo tiempo que se intenta esclarecer la relación con el consumo de alcohol y la evolución en los patrones de la conducta de juego en la actualidad.

Nowadays, new diseases and new ways of behaviour are appearing. This fact is endangering our physical and psychological health. This is what happens with pathological gambling, also called gambling disorder by the American Association of Psychology in DSM-5. This new addiction is everytime more important in our society due to the fact that the machines used to play can be find in a lot of places and there is not a big control of the people that enter this venues. Furthermore, the fact that gambling is a social behaviour increase the number of people who start gambling. The behavioral pattern of the people who play games of luck is very similar to the behavioral pattern of people who take drugs. Moreover, the steps followed to develop addict are the same in both cases, pathological gambling and drug addiction. Due to this fact, it results interesting to study the possible relation between alcohol consumption and playing games of luck and between the different kinds of games. Some studies have demonstrated that there is a comorbidity between alcohol consumption and pathological gambling. The aim of this paper is to go deeply into the characteristics of pathological gambling and try to understand the causes of this new addiction. At the same time, the comorbidity between both disorders is going to be investigated and the appearance of new ways of playing.
