La revisión histórica será un recorrido de las principales instituciones del Derecho diplomático y consular desde su nacimiento en Venecia y las primeras fuentes documentales de la materia, pasando por la diplomacia en la era moderna en España y su contribución a la consolidación de la diplomacia actual. Con centro en las instituciones de la misión diplomática, la valija y el estatus diplomáticos, así como la función consular, se pretender realizar un análisis de su evolución histórica que, de respuesta a su funcionamiento y características actuales, al igual que sus limitaciones.

The historical review will be an overview of the main institutions of diplomatic and consular law from its birth in Venice and the first documentary sources on the subject, through diplomacy in the modern era in Spain and its contribution to the consolidation of current diplomacy. Focusing on the institutions of the diplomatic mission, the diplomatic pouch and diplomatic status, as well as the consular function, the aim is to carry out an analysis of its historical evolution that provides an answer to its current functioning and characteristics, as well as its limitations.
