La exclusión social como causa principal del dolor emocional

En este trabajo se pretende indagar acerca del concepto de dolor emocional y su evidencia científica. El objetivo principal es avalar que el dolor emocional y el dolor físico son experiencias independientes. Para ello, se definirán los componentes del dolor, tanto el afectivo como el sensitivo, y las áreas cerebrales encargadas de su procesamiento. Serán los estudios de Naomi Eisenberger la base sustancial del trabajo debido a su hipótesis sobre el posible solapamiento de las vías neurológicas que procesan el componente afectivo y sensorial del dolor. Explica cómo el dolor emocional y el dolor físico podrían compartir las rutas que procesan el componente afectivo del dolor, dada su importancia a nivel evolutivo para el ser humano. Además, se pretende analizar la exclusión social como principal causante del dolor emocional. Finalmente, debido a la importancia de las experiencias de la infancia temprana, se pretende detallar la relación entre el tipo de apego de un individuo y el sentimiento de dolor físico tras una pérdida sentimental.

In this work we intend to investigate the concept of emotional pain and its scientific evidence. The main objective is to endorse that emotional pain and physical pain are independent experiences. To this end, the components of pain will be defined, both emotional and sensory, and the brain areas responsible for processing them. Naomi Eisenberger's studies will be the substantial basis of the work due to his hypothesis on the possible overlapping of the neurological pathways that process the affective and sensory component of pain. He explains how emotional pain could have adopted the same neurological pathways as physical pain given its evolutionary importance for humans. In addition, it aims to analyze social exclusion as the main cause of emotional pain. Finally, due to the importance of early childhood experiences, we intend to detail the relationship between an individual's type of attachment and the feeling of physical pain after a sentimental loss.
