Los conflictos étnicos basados en la religión tienen sus raíces en la identidad y, a menudo, van más allá de la jurisdicción doméstica. Por lo tanto, los estudios orientados a la política han cambiado su enfoque hacia las causas que conducen a la internacionalización del conflicto étnico. El conflicto en torno a Cachemira ha dominado las relaciones indo-paquistaníes durante más de setenta años.
El objetivo de este estudio es proporcionar una explicación con respecto a las relaciones bilaterales indo-paquistaníes sobre Cachemira. Al evaluar las relaciones históricas indo-paquistaníes, exploraré por qué la disputa de Cachemira aún no se ha resuelto. Para concluir, analizaré si es posible que India y Pakistán dejen de lado sus diferencias históricas como una forma de promover la paz permanente en Cachemira.
Religious-based ethnic conflicts rooted in identity often go beyond domestic jurisdiction. Therefore, policy-oriented studies have shifted their focus to the causes that lead to the internationalization of ethnic conflict. The conflict over the land of Kashmir has dominated Indo-Pakistani relations for over seventy years.
The aim of this dissertation is therefore to provide an explanation in regard to the bilateral Indo-Pakistani relations over Kashmir. By evaluating Indo-Pakistani historical relations, I will explore why the Kashmir dispute is yet to be solved. To conclude, I will analyze whether it is possible for India and Pakistan to leave their historical differences aside as a way to promote permanent peace in Kashmir.
