The Impact of the Format of the Financial Statements on the Disposition Effect

Con un experimento entre sujetos, este estudio investiga el impacto que tiene el formato de los estados financieros en reducir el "disposition effect". El 'disposition effect" es la tendencia que tiene los inversionistas a vender acciones con ganancias muy pronto ya mantener acciones con perdidas demasiado tiempo. With a between subjects experiment, this study investigates the impact of the format of he financial statements on reducing the disposition effect. The disposition effect is an identified bias of investors that results in the sale of winning stock too early and the holding of losing stock too long. Results indicate that the format of the financial statements reduce the bias and interacts with the expertise in the use of the financial statements when investors have winning stock. However, when investors have losing stock, the interaction is cancelled and the level of expertise does not help investors in reducing the bias. ue
