The present paper aims at summarizing the main results and the tools that were developed in the framework of the GRID+ project1 to support the work of the European Energy Grid initiatives (EEGI) and to support smart grids pilot projects in addressing the most critical issues related to the complexity of smart grids systems: gap analysis, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), scalability and replicability (SRA) and knowledge sharing platform. The present paper illustrates the most important tools that were developed to support distribution projects and the
main indications that derive from the applications of these tools to real distribution pilot projects.
