Modeling and Implementation of CatheterSystems for the Mitral Valve in a CT-based
Software

En este proyecto se desarrolla una herramienta novedosa para ayudar a la planificación de intervenciones siguiendo el método transcatéter, centrándose en la válvula mitral. Dichas intervenciones se espera que sustituyan paulatinamente a la cirugía actual. Por ello, se desarrolla un software capaz de guiar durante la intervención, junto a las herramientas ya utilizadas de fluoroscopia y ecocardiografía. La herramienta se centra en la interacción entre el implante, la anatomía y el sistema de catéteres. Finalmente, se verifica la eficiencia de la misma en simulaciones con distintos tipos de anatomía.

In this Project a novel tool to help plan de new interventions following the transcatheter philosophy is developed, with emphasis on the mitral valve. Such interventions are expected to slowly replace the actual standard of surgery. For that purpose, a software able to guide during the interventions, along the already used imaging tools of fluoroscopy and echocardiography, is used. The tool centers around the intercation between implant, anatomy and catheter system. Finally, the efficacy of the tool is verified in simulations with different types of anatomy.
