Les Institutions Spirituelles : moyen de diffusion de la mystique rhénane en Espagne ou passage vers la Devotio moderna ?

La obra atribuida a Tauler, Instituciones espirituales , es de gran interés para la investigación de la transmisión de la mística renana, y para la relación entre ésta y la Devotio moderna. Después de abordar el sentido que el autor de la versión latina (Surius) confiere al término "institución", se señalan las diversas fuentes de la obra: las Conversaciones de discernimiento (Reden der Unterscheidung) del Maestro Eckhart, incorporadas en el Tratado de las doce virtudes de Jan Van Wefele, cercano a la Devotio moderna; las obras de Suso; El camino recto de la beguina Marie van Hout; una colección de textos de Nicolas Esche, etc. Sin embargo, nuestro análisis se centra principalmente en la traducción castellana publicada en Coimbra en 1551, Las Instituciones o Doctrinas del excelente teólogo Fray Juan Taulero , uno de los medios por los que la mística renana y la devotio moderna fueron transmitidos y pudieron ser recibidos por los grandes escritores espirituales españoles del siglo XVI. Esta traducción, sin embargo, fue incluida en el Índice de la Inquisición española (1559) junto con muchas obras de literatura espiritual en lengua vernácula.
The work attributed to Tauler, "Spiritual Institutions", is of great interest for the research of the transmission of the German mysticism, and for the relationship between it and the Devotio moderna. First we show the meaning of the term "institution". We study also the diverse sources of the work: Meister Eckhart s "Talks of Instruction" (Reden der Unterscheidung), incorporated in the " Treaty of the Twelve Virtues" by Jan Van Wefel, who was close to the Devotio Moderna; the works of Henry Suso; "The Straight Path" of the Beguine Marie van Hout; a collection of texts by Nicolas Esche, etc. However, our analysis focuses mainly on the Castilian translation published in Coimbra in 1551, "The Institutions or Doctrines of the excellent theologian Fray Juan Taulero", one of the ways of transmition of the German Mysticism and the Devotio Moderna in Spain, who was received by the great Spanish spiritual writers of the sixteenth century. This translation, however, was included in the Index of the Spanish Inquisition (1559) along with many works of spiritual literature in the vernacular.
