El concepto de la identidad se ha convertido en una de las ideas-fuerza de nuestro tiempo. Ahora bien, la polisemia del término junto con la complejidad de la cuestión provoca que no sea siempre bien abordado. Se trata en este trabajo de acotar el concepto por medio del estudio de su definición -deslindando de otros conceptos cercanos- y el estudio de su fundamento. Solo así, una vez comprendido el objeto de estudio -la identidad biográfica-, se podrá conocer el alcance de su utilidad y se apuntará su importancia para la teología.
The concept of identity has become one of the ideas-force of our time. However, the polysemy of the term together with the complexity of the issue means that it is not always well addressed. It is a question in this work of delimiting the concept by means of the study of its definition -separating from other close concepts- and the study of its foundation. Only in this way, once the object of study -the biographical identity- is understood, will it be possible to know the scope of its usefulness and its importance for theology will be pointed out.
