Fe y razón en Guillermo de Ockham

El asunto central del presente capítulo es reflexionar sobre la ruptura que el pensamiento de Guillermo de Ockham produce en el equilibrio encontrado por Santo Tomás entre fe y razón. Este proceso de disociar ambas realidades supone que la fe y la razón sean reconocidas como fuentes de conocimiento independientes entre sí. Esto significa que la fe nos mostrará las verdades referentes a lo sobrenatural (lo sagrado) y la razón, a su vez, las verdades que conciernen al mundo de la naturaleza (lo profano). De ahí que la intención de este trabajo sea examinar el razonamiento que lleva a Ockham tanto a refutar la posibilidad de establecer un juicio coherente sobre Dios desde la sola razón como a afirmar que la revelación es suficiente para comprender eso que trasciende a la experiencia sensible.

This chapter aims to reflect upon the breach that the thought of William of Ockham caused in the well-balanced status between faith and reason as set up by Saint Thomas. The split up between both inquiring ways implied faith and reason to be recognized as sources of knowledge independent from each other. Accordingly, faith would reveal us the truth related to the supernatural (the sacred) world, while reason, in turn, would enlighten the truth regarding the world of nature (the profane). Therefore, the intention of this paper is to examine the reasoning that led Ockham to deny the possibility of establishing a coherent judgment about God from the reason itself and, on the other hand, to assert that the Revelation is self-sufficient to allow the understanding of the world beyond the sensory experience.
