¿Existe la utopía conservadora? Paradoja y ejemplo de Chesterton

Convencionalmente, el pensamiento utópico y el conservadurismo político han mantenido una relación de contraste, puesto que los conservadores rechazan el orden social de la perfección. No obstante, desde el estudio de las ideas políticas es posible afirmar que existe una paradoja: existe una utopía conservadora, ajena a la acepción progresista, de carácter, imperativa y prescriptiva, habitualmente asociada al utopismo. El literato y pensador Gilbert Keith Chesterton ejemplifica esta controvertida afirmación al compendiar nítidamente los rasgos del pensamiento conservador, sobre los que fundamenta una utopía historicista, distributista y religiosa.

The utopian thought and political conservatism have maintained conventionally an opposition, since conservatives reject the social order of perfection. However, from the study of political ideas it is possible to find a paradox: conservative utopia exists, opposite to the progressive, imperative and prescriptive utopias associated with utopianism. The writer and thinker Gilbert Keith Chesterton illustrates with example this controversial statement as it clearly meets the requirements of conservative thought, on which he supports a historicist, distributist and religious utopia.
