El sistema político libanés : un obstáculo hacia el desarrollo y la prosperidad del Líbano

En los últimos años el Líbano ha estado marcado por la inestabilidad. Las constantes injerencias internacionales en la política nacional, la creciente pérdida de confianza de las instituciones y su mala situación económica, han convertido progresivamente a la Suiza de Oriente Medio en un país sin rumbo y con un futuro económico devastador. Este problema halla su fundamento en su sistema político: una forma de gobierno consociativa que fundamenta la organización política del país en la adscripción religiosa de sus ciudadanos. Así, el presente trabajo investiga en qué medida este tipo de organización política ha sido un obstáculo para el desarrollo económico de la nación y de sus habitantes. Partiendo de un análisis del contexto histórico y político, este trabajo presenta el sistema político consociativo como una fuente de conflicto constante y, por ende, el principal impedimento al desarrollo del Líbano y de sus ciudadanos.

Over the past years, Lebanon has been plagued by instability. Constant interference in national politics, the progressive loss of confidence in the state institutions and its poor economic performance have gradually turned the Switzerland of the Middle East into a country with no direction and a devastating economic future. This problem is rooted in its political system itself: a consociational form of government that bases political organization on the religious affiliation of its citizens. Thus, this paper addresses the extent to which this type of political organization has been an obstacle to the economic development of the nation and of its people. From a deep analysis of the historical and political context, this paper presents the consociational political system as a source of constant conflict, and therefore, the main constraint to the development of the nation and its citizens.
