El ensueño conservador : ¿existe utopía en el pensamiento político de G. K. Chesterton?

El pensamiento utópico y el conservadurismo político mantienen una relación de contraste.
Los conservadores rechazan el orden social de la perfección. En esta investigación interdisciplinar
analizaremos este vínculo que encierra una paradoja: la mentalidad conservadora rechaza una
acepción imperativa y prescriptiva de utopía sin atender al resto de definiciones de la misma. Para
demostrarlo, recurriremos al estudio de las ideas políticas para exponer las características y particularidades
del ámbito académico del utopismo así como para definir las dimensiones y rasgos del
pensamiento político conservador. Tras exponer el estado de la cuestión de este vínculo discutido,
ejemplificamos nuestra investigación en el estudio del literato y ensayista G. K. Chesterton. Reconocemos
nítidamente en él rasgos del pensamiento conservador y éstos fundamentan distintas dimensiones
utópicas. Podemos, por tanto, afirmar la existencia de una utopía conservadora.

Utopianism and conservatism sustain a controversial relationship. Conservatives reject
the social order of perfection. In this interdisciplinary research we will analyze this link that involves
a paradox: the conservative mind rejectes an imperative and prescriptive meaning of utopia
regardless its other definitions. In order to demonstrate this, we will refer to use of the study of political
ideas so as to present the characteristics and particularities of the academic field of utopianism
as well as to define the dimensions and features of conservative political thinking. After presenting
the state of the art of the aforementioned controversial relationship, our research will focus
on the study of the writer and essayist G. K Chesterton. We clearly recognize in him traces of conservative
thinking that are based on different utopian dimensions. We can, therefore, claim the existence
of a conservative utopia.
