Congregación religiosa

El término Congregación se ha utilizado para referirse a realidades distintas en la vida religiosa a lo largo de los siglos. En contraposición al término "Orden" durante el siglo XIX se consagra el término de congregación religiosa para referirse al conjunto de hombres o mujeres que se comprometen con votos simples y viven en común con una estructura organizativa que agrupa en diversas casas a los diferentes miembros bajo una autoridad central con potestad sobre todos. La expresión usada hasta el código de 1983 ha perdido significado jurídico unificando las diversas familias religiosas bajo el término "Instituto religioso". En el código vigente se usa únicamente para referirse al grupo de monasterios unidos entre sí por lazos de origen o de común reforma que constituyen una Congregación monástica .

The term "Congregation" has been used to refer to different realities in religious life over the centuries. In contrast to the term "Order" during the nineteenth century, the term "religious congregation" is consecrated to refer to the group of men or women who commit themselves with simple vows and live in common with an organizational structure that groups different houses into different members. The expression used up to the 1983 code has lost legal significance by unifying the various religious families under the term "religious institute". In the current code it is used only to refer to the group of monasteries united to each other by ties of origin or common reform that constitute a "monastic Congregation".
