Respuestas a la crisis de Adrianópolis la subida al poder de Teodosio I

Tras la debacle de Adrianópolis (8 de agosto del 378), la pars Orientis del Imperio romano quedó sumida en una crisis militar y psicológica de dimensiones insondables. Este artículo pretende examinar las consecuencias de dicha crisis y las respuestas que la maquinaria imperial romana articuló para hacerla frente. Aunque no inmediata, la respuesta de mayor trascendencia fue la nominación por parte de la Corte de Sirmio de un nuevo Augusto para Oriente: el Magister Militum hispano Teodosio.

After the debacle of Adrianople (August 8, 378), the Eastern part of the Roman Empire was plunged into an unfathomable military and psychological crisis. This article aims to examine the consequences of this crisis and the responses articulated by the Roman imperial machinery to confront it. Though not immediate, the most significant response was the nomination by the Court of Sirmium of a new Augustus for the East: the Spanish Magister Militum, Theodosius."
