Vírgenes, mártires y doctoras. Los sermones de santas de Fr. Cristóbal de Avendaño (O.Carm., 1569-1629)

Este artículo estudia los sermones de santas del carmelita Fr. Cristóbal de Avendaño, predicador del Siglo de Oro español. La mentalidad misógina permanece en el fondo del discurso. La santidad femenina se asocia a la virginidad y ello condiciona las ideas sobre la santidad en el matrimonio y la maternidad. Pero las figuras modernas de santidad ofrecen la imagen de mujeres activas en la vida de la Iglesia, por sus revelaciones y su sabiduría.

This article studies the sermons on female saints of the Carmelite Cristóbal de Avendaño, preacher of the Spanish Golden Age. The misogynist mentality persists in the background of speech. The feminine sanctity is associated to the virginity and it conditions the ideas on the sanctity in the marriage and the maternity. But the modern figures of sanctity offer the image of active women in the life of the Church, by their revelations and their wisdom.
