El artículo transcribe la conferencia inaugural del curso académico 2023-2024 en la sede de la Facultad de Teología del Norte de España en Vitoria-Gasteiz. El tema que desarrolla es la búsqueda de la verdad y la necesaria formación de los teólogos para permanecer en esta empresa. También matiza con qué tipo de verdad trabaja la teología y, en conformidad a su naturaleza, cómo se debería hacer y ser universidad. Por último, reflexiona sobre el problema acuciante de las universidades quienes, actualmente, se ven sometidas a las leyes del mercado y a otras dinámicas ajenas a la investigación. El artículo insta a resistir en la vocación de la búsqueda de la verdad que toda ciencia debe abanderar sin dejarse presionar por otros intereses.

The article transcribes the inaugural conference of the academic year 2023-2024 at the headquarters of the Northern Spain Faculty of Theology in Vitoria-Gasteiz. The theme it develops is the pursuit of truth and the necessary formation of theologians to persevere in this endeavor.
