Proyecto educativo sobre escuela de familia, dirigido a familiares de pacientes paliativos a domicilio

La experiencia de cuidar a un familiar en situación terminal suele ser una experiencia prolongada que exige reorganizar la vida laboral, familiar y social para poder atender al enfermo en casa. Asumir este rol, tiene una serie de repercusiones en la vida familiar y en la salud tanto del propio enfermo como del cuidador. Esto puede provocar una sensación de carga que puede convertirle en un enfermo secundario, derivando a lo que llamaríamos sobrecarga del cuidador, entre otros. Por ello es tan importante que el equipo domiciliario, cuide al cuidador, intentando prevenir esos problemas, atendiendo a las necesidades, además de ayudarles a prepara tanto física como psíquicamente para la muerte próxima del familiar. El objetivo de este proyecto, por lo tanto, es acoger y formar al cuidador principal para desarrollar y potenciar actitudes y habilidades que les faciliten el acompañamiento del paciente al final de la vida.

The experience of taking care of a relative in a terminal situation use to be a long-lasting experience which requires to reorganize the social, familiar and working life in order to be able to look after the sick person at home. Assuming such a role has a series of repercurssions in the familiar life and in the health of both the sick person and the caregiver himself/herself. This can cause a feeling of burden which could turn the caregiver into a secundary sick, suffering the so-called 'Caregiver Burden', among others. That is why it is so important that the home team takes also care of the caregiver, trying to prevent these problems, dealing with their needs as well as helping them to get prepare both physically and psychologicaly for the presumable near death of the relative. The goal of this project, therefore, is embracing and training the main caregiver to be able to develop and stregthen actitudes and skills which could make easier the patient's accompaniment at his/her life's end.
