Notas para una "liturgia fundamental" en Agustín de Hipona

El siguiente artículo trata de mostrar cómo puede descubrirse en algunos de los escritos de Agustín de Hipona lo que algunos liturgistas han sabido denominar “liturgia fundamental”. Se procura mostrar la validez del pensamiento litúrgico de san Agustín, tratando de considerar cómo el Hiponense, tanto en los sermones predicados al pueblo de Dios como en cartas o tratados de profundo calado teológico, se muestra como un verdadero teólogo y pedagogo de la liturgia, sobre todo en cuanto presenta el estrecho vínculo que la misma mantiene con la Sagrada Escritura y la Tradición. De hecho, se enumeran características esenciales de la liturgia celebrada por san Agustín.

The following article seeks to show how from certain of the writings of Saint Augustine of Hippo there emerges what some liturgists have called ‘fundamental liturgy’. The A. shows the value of Augustine’s thought on the liturgy, such that through the high theological quality of the sermons preached to the people of God, as in his letters and treatises, Augustine reveals himself to be a true theologian and teacher of the liturgy, especially in his elucidating the liturgy’s close connection with Scripture and Tradition. In this way, the study sets out the essential characteristics of liturgy as celebrated by Augustine.
