Análisis Fundamental de Teekay LNG

Introducción
Este proyecto busca conocer el valor intrínseco de Teekay LNG. Para ello, se combinará la visión industrial que permitirá conocer a fondo el negocio de la empresa aplicando los conocimientos adquiridos durante el Máster en Ingeniería Industrial, con un análisis financiero siguiendo el método empleado por los grandes inversores en valor de la historia.

Metodología
Para el análisis industrial se realizará un estudio de la cadena de suministro del gas natural incluyendo la extracción y el consumo, pasando por el transporte que es el sector donde Teekay LNG centra su negocio.
Por su parte, el análisis financiero incluirá un estudio de los grandes inversores en valor de la historia, así como las técnicas empleadas por cada uno. Esto se pondrá en práctica analizando Teekay LNG empleando tres métodos de valoración: descuentos de flujos de caja futuros, valoración por múltiplos y valoración de transacciones recientes.

Resultados
Desde el punto de vista industrial se analizará cual es el futuro del sector del gas natural impulsado por su creciente importancia en el mix energético mundial. Asimismo, se analizará como el transporte de gas natural a través de barcos metaneros es la alternativa más eficiente en la actualidad. Por último, se presentará el valor estimado de la empresa empleando los tres métodos expuestos anteriormente.

Conclusiones
Se valorará en primer lugar la capacidad del alumno para entender el funcionamiento de la empresa desde el punto de vista industrial y financiero. Además, se estudiará como el alumno fue capaz de tomar una decisión de inversión real ayudado por este análisis, así como por la filosofía de inversión en valor.

Introduction
This project seeks to know the intrinsic value of Teekay LNG. For this, the industrial vision will be used to know in depth the business of the company applying the knowledge acquired during the master’s in industrial engineering. It will be combined with a financial analysis following the method used by the great value investors in history.

Methodology
For the industrial analysis, a study of the natural gas supply chain will be carried out, including extraction and consumption, through transportation, which is the sector where Teekay LNG centers its business.
Furthermore, the financial analysis will include a study of the great value investors in history, as well as the techniques used by each one. This will be put into practice by analysing Teekay LNG using three valuation methods: discounted future cash flows, valuation by multiples, and valuation of recent transactions.

Results
From an industrial point of view, the future of the natural gas sector will be analysed, driven by its growing importance in the world energy mix. Likewise, it will be analysed how the transportation of natural gas through LNG tankers is the most efficient alternative at present. Finally, the estimated value of the company will be presented using the three methods previously presented.

Conclusion
First, the student’s ability to understand the operation of the company from an industrial and financial point of view will be assessed. In addition, it will be studied how the student was able to make a real investment decision aided by this analysis, as well as by the value investment philosophy.
