El valor de la humanidad de Jesucristo : clave de la interpretación del Concilio de Calcedonia en algunas cristologías del siglo XX

Esta tesis doctoral descubre cómo la celebración del 1500 aniversario del concilio de Calcedonia contribuyó a resaltar el valor de la humanidad de Jesucristo durante la segunda mitad del siglo XX. En el primer capítulo, se presentan algunos de los principales hitos protestantes y católicos que han preparado y ayudado a una nueva recepción del dogma calcedonense en el marco de la modernidad (Friedrich Schleiermacher, Karl Barth, la encíclica Sempiternus Rex Christus y la obra colectiva Das Konzil von Chalkedon). En el segundo capítulo se estudia el pensamiento del teólogo alemán Karl Rahner, como autor anterior al concilio Vaticano II, y sobre todo su famoso artículo Calcedonia, ¿fin o comienzo? En el tercer y cuarto capítulo, a modo de díptico, se analiza el pensamiento del teólogo francés Bernard Sesboüé, como un autor posterior al concilio Vaticano II, teniendo como punto de referencia su libro Jésus-Christ dans la tradition de l’Église. El quinto capítulo se adentra en los documentos cristológicos de la Comisión Teológica Internacional de las dos últimas décadas del siglo XX, en cuanto que son una caja de resonancia del pensamiento cristológico de este período. Por último, en las conclusiones se comparan las diferentes interpretaciones del dogma calcedonense en los autores estudiados y, a través de ellos, se traza la evolución en la manera de considerar el misterio de la humanidad del Hijo de Dios encarnado.

This doctoral thesis reveals how the celebration of the 1500th anniversary of the Council of Chalcedon contributed to highlight the value of the humanity of Jesus Christ during the second half of the 20th century. In the first chapter, we present some of the main Protestant and Catholic milestones that have prepared and fostered a new reception of the Chalcedon in contemporary thought (Friedrich Schleiermacher, Karl Barth, the encyclical Sempiternus Rex Christus and the collective work Das Konzil von Chalkedon). In the second chapter, we study the thought of the German theologian Karl Rahner, as author before the Second Vatican Council, and especially his famous article Chalcedon, end or beginning? In the third and fourth chapters, as a diptych, the thought of French theologian Bernard Sesboüé is analyzed, as an author after the Second Vatican Council, having as a point of reference his book Jésus-Christ dans la tradition de l'Église. The fifth chapter delves into the Christological documents of the International Theological Commission of the last two decades of the twentieth century. They are a resonance box of the Christological thought of this period. Finally, the conclusions gather and compare the different interpretations of the Chalcedonian dogma in the authors studied and, through them, trace the evolution in the way of considering the mystery of the humanity of the incarnate Son of God.
