The power of Hollywood: its influence during the 50s and 60s to the current streaming panorama.

El estudio analizará la historia de Hollywood durante la segunda mitad del Siglo XX, y examinará los diferentes acontecimientos que tuvieron lugar en la época en relación con la representación americana en la industria hollywoodiense y su repercusión en las relaciones internacionales. Más tarde, el nacimiento de la televisión y la expansión del “estilo de vida americano” serán estudiados en conexión con la posterior evolución a la televisión por cable y a las plataformas en streaming. Por último, un estudio comparativo entre los Estados Unidos y otros países tendrá lugar para así entender el si la industria de Hollywood se puede utilizar como una herramienta en las relaciones internacionales.

The study will look at the Hollywood history during the second half of the 20th Century and examine the events that took place during the time, and the repercussion the Hollywood portrayal of the American country had on its international relations. Then, the birth of television will be studied and its role in the spread of the American Way of Life through TV shows and cinema to later study the evolution to the streaming panorama through the World Wide Web and the Internet. Lastly a comparative study between the US an several other nations will be done, so as to understand if the Hollywood industry has come as an advantage for the US’s soft power. Overall, the whole aim of this paper will be that of studying if Hollywood and the entertainment industry can be used as a tool for foreign policy.
