Terapias potencialmente peligrosas

La iatrogenia es un fenómeno asociado al campo de la medicina, no obstante, también puede suceder en ciencias como es la Psicología. En este trabajo, se enumeran algunos ejemplos de los que Lilienfeld (2007) entre otros autores denominan como terapias psicológicas potencialmente peligrosas, es decir, aquellas cuyo mero uso produce daños individuales o sobre terceros, así como algunas dificultades metodológicas que complican su detección y ayudan a comprender la continuación de su uso. De la misma, manera se describen otras variables que rodean a la terapia y que también pueden fomentar que un tratamiento considerado no iatrogénico, se convierta en perjudicial para las personas. Finalmente, se proponen algunas vías para evitar el fenómeno de la Iatrogenia relacionadas tanto con el tipo de terapia como con las variables cuya aparición incrementa la manifestación de efectos iatrogénicos.

The Iatrogenia is a phenomenon associated with the field of medicine; however, it can also happen in sciences such as psychology. In this paper, we list some examples of what Lilienfeld (2007), among other authors, call as potentially harmful therapies, that is, those that their mere use produces individual or third-party damages , as well as some methodological difficulties that complicate their detection and help to understand the continuation of their use. In the same way, other variables that surround the therapy are described and can also encourage that a treatment considered non-iatrogenic becomes harmful to people. Finally, some ways are proposed to avoid the phenomenon of Iatrogenia related to both the type of therapy and the variables whose appearance promotes the appearance of iatrogenic effects.
