La Política Exterior de EE. UU. Contra el Terrorismo: El caso de Somalia.

Este trabajo de investigación busca explorar cómo ha sido durante las últimas dos décadas la política exterior de Estados Unidos contra el terrorismo. Desde los atentados terroristas del 11 de Septiembre de 2001, el terrorismo se ha convertido en uno de los ejes primordiales de la política estadounidense, guiando su comportamiento con el objetivo de garantizar la seguridad nacional e internacional mediante una desarrollada política contraterrorista.

Para profundizar en el análisis se ha procedido a estudiar el caso de Somalia. Respecto al interés estadounidense en la lucha antiterrorista en Somalia se examinará cómo las diferentes administraciones de Bush, Obama y Trump han ido variando su política para paliar el avance terrorista en Somalia. A lo largo de los años se han llevado a cabo operaciones e iniciativas en el territorio, principalmente han sido militares, con el fin de garantizar los objetivos estratégicos estadounidenses, centrados en la defensa y en la seguridad, pero también en el poderío económico y militar.

Finalmente, el análisis permitirá ver si todas esas operaciones, iniciativas y ayudas de Estados Unidos en Somalia han resultado fructíferas y han contribuido a la pacificación de la región o si por el contrario han supuesto unas expectativas esperanzadoras y no han conseguido contener el avance terrorista y aumentar así la seguridad internacional.

This research paper seeks to explore what U.S. foreign policy against terrorism has been like over the past two decades. Since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, terrorism has become one of the main axes of American policy, guiding its behavior with the objective of guaranteeing national and international security through a developed counterterrorism policy.

To deepen the analysis, the case of Somalia has been studied. With respect to the US interest in the fight against terrorism in Somalia, we will examine how the different administrations of Bush, Obama and Trump have been varying their policies to alleviate the terrorist advance in Somalia. Over the years, operations and initiatives have been carried out in the territory, mainly military, in order to guarantee US strategic objectives, focused on defence and security, but also on economic and military power.

Finally, the analysis will allow us to see whether all these operations, initiatives and aid from the United States in Somalia have been successful and have contributed to the pacification of the region or whether, on the contrary, they have given rise to hopeful expectations and have not managed to contain the terrorist advance and thus increase international security.
