INTERVENCIÓN DESDE EL TRABAJO SOCIAL, ANTE LA REALIDAD DE MUJERES Y NIÑAS QUE SUFREN LA ABLACIÓN EN ESPAÑA

El presente trabajo se encuentra orientado hacia la mutilación genital femenina (MGF) en España. De este modo se aborda el concepto, la realidad dentro del territorio español, los tipos de MGF, las justificaciones subyacentes, y las consecuencias de la MGF. Igualmente, se integran nociones ligadas a la migración, al centrarse el trabajo en torno a las niñas y mujeres migrantes que han sufrido o están en riesgo de padecer esta práctica. También, se introduce la conexión entre la MGF y el género, al practicarse únicamente sobre mujeres y niñas. Al resultar fundamental en esta materia la regulación existente, dentro del actual trabajo se incorpora la legislación vigente a nivel español, europeo e internacional relativa al intento de erradicar la MGF. Después se explican las distintas actuaciones que se efectúan en el seno de la comunidad de Madrid desde diversas entidades e instituciones, respecto a la sensibilización y prevención sobre este procedimiento. A fin de ampliar el conocimiento vinculado a las acciones implementadas en este tema se explica y se analiza dentro del trabajo parte de la información proporcionada por dos profesionales que forman parte del área social y una técnica del ámbito sanitario, referente a las acciones que realizan para frenar la MGF tanto dentro de España como en África. Asimismo, el trabajo integra propuestas relacionadas con la sensibilización, que se pueden realizar desde el trabajo social.

The present work is oriented towards female genital mutilation (FGM) in Spain. In this way, the concept, the reality within the Spanish territory, the types of FGM, the underlying justifications, and the consequences of FGM are addressed. Likewise, notions linked to migration are integrated, by focusing the work on migrant girls and women who have suffered or are at risk of suffering from this practice. Also, the connection between FGM and gender is introduced, as it is practiced only on women and girls. As the existing regulation is fundamental in this matter, the current legislation at the Spanish, European and international level regarding the attempt to eradicate FGM is incorporated into the current work. Afterwards, the different actions that are carried out within the community of Madrid from various entities and institutions are explained, with respect to awareness and prevention of this procedure. In order to broaden the knowledge related to the actions implemented in this subject, part of the information provided by two professionals who work in the social area and a professional from the health field, referring to the actions they carry out to stop FGM both within Spain and in Africa. Likewise, the work integrates proposals related to awareness, which can be carried out from social work.
