Implicación del padre, actitudes frente al género y estrés parental en familias de doble empleo

El objetivo principal de este estudio fue conocer la posible relación entre la implicación
del padre en la crianza de los hijos, las actitudes frente al género - "igualitaria" o
"machista" - y el estrés parental en familias de doble empleo. Para ello, se exploró la
relación entre las actitudes frente al género de los padres y madres, la relación de la
implicación del padre y el estrés parental materno, y la relación del estrés parental
materno en func ión del tipo de jornada laboral del padre. Se trabajó con una muestra de
50 parejas españolas con hijos (ambos con trabajos fuera del hogar). Se administró a los
padres la Escala Implicación del Padre - adaptación española de Invent01y of Father
Involvement, IFI (Hawkins, Bradford, Palkovitz, Christiansen, Day y Call, 2002); y a
ambos miembros de la pareja la Escala sobre Ideología de Género (Moya, Expósito y
Padilla, 2006) y la Escala de Estrés Parental (Oronoz, Alonso-Arbiol y Balluerka, 2007)
- adaptación española de Parental Stress Scale, PSS, (Berry y Jones, 1995). A partir de
los resultados obtenidos, limitados a la muestra, se concluye que, entre otros, existe
relación entre la implicación del padre y el estrés parental materno, pero esta fluctúa en
func ión de las áreas en las que se implique el padre. Finalmente, se detallan las
limitaciones del estudio, así como la relevancia de esta área de investigación.

The main objective ofthis study has been to understand the possible relationship between
father involvement in child-rearing, attitudes towards gender, and parental stress in
families where both parents work outside the household. To this end, we explored the
relationship between the attitudes towards gender of both fathers and mothers, the
relationship between the father's involvement and the mother's parental-stress, and the
relationship ofthe mother's parental-stress to the working hours ofthe father. We worked
with a sample of 50 spanish couples with children (both with jobs outside the household).
Fathers were asked to complete the Escala de Implicación del Padre, the spanish
adaptation ofthe l nvenfmJ' ofFather lnvolvement, ("IFI") (Hawkins, Bradford, Palkovitz,
Christiansen, Day and Call, 2002). Both members of the couple were asked to complete
the Sea/e on Gender Jdeology (Moya, Expósito and Padilla, 2006) and the Escala de
Estrés Parental (Oronoz, Alonso-Arbiol and Balluerka, 2007), the spanish adaptation of
the Parental Stress Scale, ("PSS"), (Berry and Jones, 1995). From the results obtained,
which are limited to the sample, it is concluded that there is a relationship between the
involvement of the father and the mother's parental-stress, but this fluctuates depending
on the areas in which the father is involved. Finally, the limitations of the study are
detailed, as well as the relevance ofth is area of research.
