IMPACTO ECONÓMICO DE LA MUJER: LA BRECHA DE GÉNERO EN EL ESPACIO POLÍTICO

A pesar de las modificaciones en los marcos legales, las suscripciones a objetivos universales de desarrollo y el avance actual hacia la igualdad, el Foro Económico Mundial estima que aun necesitaríamos 99,5 años para cerrar la brecha global de género. Aunque esta brecha se puede dar en numerosos ámbitos y la literatura se centra en el salarial, este trabajo estudia la esfera política que coincide, además, con la brecha más atrasada en su camino hacia la igualdad. Con el objetivo de ahondar en una esfera menos estudiada y de evaluar su impacto en tres magnitudes–el Producto Interior Bruto, el Índice de Desarrollo Humano y el Índice de Felicidad–, este trabajo realizará un análisis cuantitativo descriptivo, bidimensional y multidimensional. A través de estudios de correlaciones, diferencias de medias y la elaboración de modelos econométricos, no solo se hallará que un aumento de participación femenina en política aumenta significativamente los valores de las magnitudes, sino que también se concretará qué tipos de puestos influyen en mayor medida, qué variables facilitan la participación femenina y qué factores limitan un mayor progreso. De esta manera, se cumplirán las hipótesis del trabajo, se alineará la investigación con los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible y se aportará conocimiento a las agendas públicas de los países.

Despite changes in legal frameworks, subscriptions to universal development goals and the current progress towards equality, the World Economic Forum estimates that it would still take 99.5 years to close the global gender gap. Although this gap can occur in many areas and the literature focuses on wages, this paper looks at the political sphere which also coincides with the most delayed gap on the road to equality. In order to delve into a less studied sphere and assess the impact of this gap on three magnitudes -the Gross Domestic Product, the Human Development Index and the Happiness Index-, this paper will carry out a descriptive, two-dimensional and multidimensional quantitative analysis. Through studies of correlations, differences in means and the development of three econometric models, it will not only be found that an increase in female participation in politics significantly increases the values of the magnitudes, but it will also be determined which types of positions have the greatest influence, which variables facilitate female participation and which factors limit further progress. In this way, the working hypotheses will be fulfilled, the research will be aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and knowledge will be contributed to the countries' public agendas.
