Célibes Involuntarios (InCels): ¿Terroristas?

Los Célibes Involuntarios (InCels) son un grupo de varones, reunidos en foros en Internet, que odian fuertemente a las mujeres ya que estas rechazan sus acercamientos afectivo-sexuales, a los que ellos creen tener derecho por naturaleza. También odian a los hombres atractivos y sexualmente activos, que restringen sus posibilidades con las mujeres y los condenan a la soledad. Y desean utilizar la violencia para acabar con todos ellos; siendo que seis InCels ya han realizado asesinatos en masa en Estados Unidos y Canadá, en los que fueron asesinadas 27 personas y heridas 43, en total. El objetivo de este trabajo es discutir la inclusión de este grupo en la categoría de fenómeno terrorista. Para ello, primero se conceptualiza el terrorismo con sus controversias y características definitorias. Luego, se realiza una revisión bibliográfica sobre los InCels. Se plantea un estudio exhaustivo de los asesinatos InCels mediante una revisión de artículos en prensa y de los manifiestos ideológicos que publicaron tres perpetradores justo antes de sus asesinatos en masa. Con esta información, se discute la inclusión de los InCels en la categoría de terroristas, siguiendo los criterios definitorios del terrorismo expuestos en la introducción. Se concluye que los InCels son un fenómeno muy parecido al terrorismo, al cumplir cuatro de los seis criterios, pero carecer de dos básicos: una intención real de imponer su voluntad a los poderes estatales, y un intento de subvertir los principios democráticos fundamentales. Por tanto, hoy en día no podrían considerarse terroristas, aunque sí podrían serlo en el futuro. Finalmente, se critica el concepto de terrorismo, al considerarse su uso poco ético (por sus implicaciones ideológicas) y poco útil y riguroso (pues agrupa fenómenos muy distintos, con causas muy diferentes y complejas que se sobresimplifican, entendiendo al terrorista como un enfermo mental y desviando así la atención de las causas estructurales e histórico-individuales de las conductas violentas).

The Involuntary Celibates (InCels) are a group of men, gathered in forums on the Internet, who strongly hate women since they reject their sexual-affective approaches, to which they believe they have a natural right. They also hate attractive and sexually active men, who restrict their possibilities with women and condemn them to loneliness. They want to use violence to end all of them. Six InCels have already carried out mass murders in the United States and Canada, out of which a total of 27 people were killed and 43 injured. The aim of this work is to discuss the inclusion of this group in the category of terrorist phenomenon. For this, terrorism is first conceptualized with its controversies and defining characteristics. Then, a bibliographic review of InCels is carried out. An in-depth study of the InCels murders is proposed through a review of press articles and the ideological manifestos published by three perpetrators just before their mass murders. With this information, the inclusion of InCels in the category of terrorists is discussed, following the defining criteria of terrorism set out in the introduction. It is concluded that InCels are a phenomenon very similar to terrorism, fulfilling four of the six criteria, but lacking two basic ones: a real intention to impose their will on the state powers, and an attempt to subvert fundamental democratic principles. Therefore, today they could not be considered terrorists, although they could be in the future. Finally, the concept of terrorism is criticized, considering its unethical use (due to its ideological implications) and its little usefulness and lack of rigor (since it groups very different phenomena, with very different and complex causes that are oversimplified, understanding the terrorist as mentally ill and thus diverting attention from the structural and historical-individual causes of violent behavior).
