¿A quién pertenece el Ártico? : respuestas desde el Derecho Internacional del Mar

El cambio climático está provocando cambios drásticos en el Océano Ártico. Derivados de los mismos surgen nuevas oportunidades de explotación de la región que han provocado la transición del Ártico hacia una zona de interés geopolítico estratégico. Así, tanto los actores tradicionales como nuevos actores pugnan por establecer de forma sólida sus aspiraciones en la región. La falta de un régimen jurídico específico plantea interrogantes cerca de la capacidad del Derecho Internacional del Mar, actual régimen jurídico vigente en la zona, para responder de forma adecuada a estas nuevas tendencias geopolíticas.

Climate changing is causing drastic changes in the Artic Ocean. Originated from them arises new opportunities for the exploitation of the region that have caused the geopolitical and strategic repositioning of the Artic. Thus, both traditional actors and new actors strive to firmly establish their aspirations in the region. The lack of a specific legal regime raises questions about the capacity of the International Law of the Sea, current legal regime in the area, to respond adequately to these new geopolitical trends.
